First Aid in Armed Conflict and Violent Environment with the Warriors for Peace



HELP for Peace Program coordinator Mr. Charlie Magne Coronel conducts a series of lectures and demonstration of First Aid in armed conflicts and other situations of violence adapted from the manual of the International Committee of the Red Cross from February 18 to March 3, 2009 at the Niall O’Brien Center, Bacolod City, Philippines.

The topic includes: The International Humanitarian Law, Mechanism of Injury, Pre-hospital care of patient, First Aid Kit, Leading a first aid team, The chain of casualty care, First aid post, New Technologies used in Humanitarian operations, Safe Behavior in dangerous situations and collecting and burying the dead.

The objective of these lectures is to: 1.) Equip the Warriors for Peace Academy with the basic pre-hospital care for patients or victims of armed conflicts and violence. 2.) To develop leadership skill during medical operations. 3.) To increase the spirit of volunteerism through awareness of the effects of armed conflicts 4.) To act safely in the field during armed conflicts and other situations of violence.

These lectures increases awareness to the academy with the importance and the situation of the health care workers during conflict, risking their lives for the purpose of serving humanity, reducing the pain and suffering brought by conflicts and respecting the rights of both party.
