Memorial Regional Hospital (CLMMRH) requested different
organization to conduct an earthquake preparedness
and fire safety seminar, HELP for Peace conducted
the earthquake preparedness seminar to the hospital
staff. Mr. Charlie Magne B. Coronel a member of HELP
for Peace and trained in Collapsed Structure Search
and Rescue handled the discussion on risk mitigation
and preparation before, during and after the earthquake.
Amity Volunteer Fire Brigade's Fire Chief Mr. Carlos
Ganihong conducted the fire safety discussion giving
the hospital staff enough knowledge when to fight
and not to fight fires during disasters.
This
joint discussion is not only for the earthquake drill
which will be conducted on July 23,2008 by the Department
of Health but also making the hospital less susceptible
to risk of mass casualties when a disaster strikes
especially earthquake. This will equip the staff with
knowledge to respond during earthquake to save not
only themselves but their patients as well.
